Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can help boost your health prior to conception so you and your eggs are as healthy as possible before your grand adventure to parenthood.

Preparing your body for a safe and healthy pregnancy is extremely important. Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or are using assisted reproductive techniques, my practice is dedicated to helping you fulfil your dream of becoming a parent.

It is recommended that you begin fertility support as soon as possible, whether you are hoping to become pregnant now, or within the next few years.

A healthy body and good egg quality is obviously key to having a healthy baby and for this reason it is widely recommended to nourish oneself for 3 months prior to conceiving because this is the amount of time an egg needs to mature, ovulate, fertilize, implant to finally make a baby.

(After coming off birth control, it can take a number of cycles to regulate the menstrual cycle and ensure healthy ovulation.)

I will closely work with you during this time. In addition to acupuncture, I will encourage you to take an active role in your health and fertility journey by cycle tracking, monitoring cervical fluid, adhering to nutrition and lifestyle advice.

When to start

Proper nutrition, a balanced lifestyle and regular Acupuncture for 3 months prior to conceiving helps reduce stress, regulate cycles, improve wellbeing, increase nourishment to the eggs and the uterine lining thus increasing fertility and paving the way to a healthy pregnancy.

In infertile couples, the man would be sterile in 50% of cases.  Acupuncture can improve semen quality and sperm count to create healthier embryos. It is important for both partners to eat a well-balanced diet, cut out alcohol, reduce stress and avoid excessive exercise.

Couples can request treatment at the same time, you both will enjoy acupuncture on the same room and relaxing atmosphere.

Acupuncture treats and support a variety of conditions related to infertility including:

  • Anovulation (no ovulation)
  • Amenorrhea (no period)
  • Egg quality
  • Diminished ovarian reserve (high FSH/low AMH)
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids
  • In-vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Advanced maternal age
  • Luteal phase defect
  • Menstrual irregularities and discomforts (pain, PMS, etc.)
  • Male factor issues (sperm count, motility and morphology)
  • PCOS – Polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • Recurrent miscarriage
  • Unexplained infertility

The ancient system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used to successfully treat infertility for over two thousand years. However, when natural conception is not possible and the help of modern medicine is needed to achieve the dream of having a child, TCM and western medicine are proving to be a very effective combination.
